Common errors that may impact on your press up test results are outlined below:

Error message on screen:
An error message may appear when the user takes their hands off the platform once in the press up position or does not keep their weight distributed over the platform.

The press up test requires the participant to step off the platform before entering the press up position. The participant should place their hands onto the platform and not take them off until the test has finished. If they take their hands off the platform before the test has started, then an error message will appear which requires the participant to step onto the platform and click the screen to restart the test procedure.

Double counting or not registering press ups:
The test is based on a full press up with arms fully extended and lowering as low to the platform as possible before pushing back to the start position.
If a user performs a press up very slowly then it may potentially count the press up as two press ups due to the slow technique used.

Users who cannot perform a full press up from their toes may decide to do the press ups from their knees. When performing press ups from the knees, it is important to make sure that the users body-weight is distributed over their shoulders. If they do not, the FitQuest may not register any press ups due to an inability to detect any change in force. Alternatively, it may count one press up as two due to the difference in technique. Consistent technique should be used whichever option is chosen.
